Every day in our Nation, people are losing insurance benefits, or jobs, or their homes.   We are in economically stressful times.  In the past few years, we have seen people deployed and families struggling with the changes in benefits and income.  We have watched one of our own firefighters put off maintenance of their spine because it was not covered by their insurance in a way they could afford...only to wind up with a disc surgery a year later.  We continually receive calls from people whose need for care far exceeds the dollars in their pocket.  We have had people come and explain the care programs they signed up for did not get them well, but did tie up all their spare cash.  We have run into people who knew they needed an adjustment to go back to work, but could not afford exams and x-rays all over again.  We see people who live now in fear of what it will cost, how long it will take, and how much their insurance will pay.  THIS IS NOT WORKING! 

The State of Washington has mandated that all health plans include alternative care.   Yet, State Assistance will not pay a dime of it.  So those who do not have a health insurance carrier through their job or other means, must pay out of pocket with no help from The State of Washington.  Thus, negating the purpose for State Assistance.    THIS IS NOT WORKING! 

The TRUTH is with insurance we never know if they will pay even when they pre-authorize care.  Case in point, we had to watch one patient lose their livelihood and go broke because they were hit by a car and the insurance would not pay anything until they finished healing and agreed to a settlement.  These situations force patients to hire lawyers to represent them to insure payment of medical bills and money that go to the patient's future care goes to the lawyer.  Even when awarded "pain and suffering" the lawyer gets most of it. THIS IS NOT WORKING! 

We are sick of it.  If this is the best we can do then we'd rather be hot air ballooning.  We refuse to be a part of this whole situation.  You see because of these things the cost of healthcare is going up.  Office space is going up.  Everything costs more and people have less.  So they do without.  Could physicians pay for the care they need if not connected to the healthcare system?  The truth is no.  THIS IS NOT WORKING! 

There are millions of Americans who simply can not afford care.  Others must pay out of pocket for care even when they have insurance coverage.   These same Americans are supporting charities around the globe and sending their loved ones to fight and die in other countries.  At a time when our big institutions are being bailed out and the consumer pays the bill on both ends, who is going to help the average American? 

• What about those who live and work in small or remote communities whose population is not large enough to support a doctor's office with staff and billing department? 
• What about those who have no time leftover after job and children, and cannot afford time off work for care? 
• What about starting at home with our efforts? 
• While we are taking care of the world who will take care of us? 

This has to stop.  This is why we went mobile.  THE ANSWER IS TO SPEND LESS SO WE CAN CHARGE LESS.   We must partner with our local community to support a common goal. Because we all have different incomes, different financial obligations, different time schedules, different lifestyles people should have access to healthcare irregardless of their ability to pay. Not free but, not turned away.

Chiropractic has survived over 100 years as a safe practice that keeps people off drugs and healthy.  For over 100 years we have not had to change a single practice because it was hurting someone.  For many years doctors of chiropractic were willing to be sent to jail or prison on bogus charges of practicing medicine without a license just to keep the practice alive.  They would return home to their families and open the door to their own home for the community to come get well and stay well.  They survived even through the Great Depression because of one principle.  They took care of their community in trade for whatever people could afford.  Dr. Herbert Reaver (imprisioned six times for practicing medicine without a license) and his wife, remember the Great Depression and said sometimes they would look in the cash box (on the wall for donations) and find it empty.  "We would look in the box on the porch and find vegetables, eggs, bread, or a chicken.  When things got real bad we might only find a potato but, we always had something."  These were not wealthy people, they were servants of humanity.  They did not believe in drugs or medicine, only health and wellness.  We believe with all our heart that we need to get back to this connection with our community.  The first definition of doctor means "teacher".   

To make this work we must do away with the high cost of healthcare.   We must change the way we do business if we are to change the outcome.    Retail space is very expensive so we must be mobile and rely on the good nature of our community to park where we can.  The bus needs to be used since it is inexpensive and adequate for the task.   Fuel too is expensive and for this reason we have partnered with some local boys from Portland at Dino Fuel Alternatives who invented the Vegistroke.  This allows us to burn pure waste oil in our diesel bus.  So far, Cafe' Jennifer and the Salmon Creek Brewery and Pub have pledged their fryer oil.  To pledge oil, contact us.

Staff is very expensive so we must make the process as simple as possible.   Billing insurance and waiting for payment is expensive.  The key here is to not accept insurance.  For this reason we have created an option for treatment based on the standard co-pay rate of $25.  There are two other factors that must change...tax structure must change and for this reason we are applying for a 501(c)3 not for profit status.  And finally, the actual product.  What is the patient getting and how it is delivered? 

The American Medical Association (AMA)  guidelines now dictate how a doctor bills and for what procedure.  The insurance health plans dictate what procedures and how a doctor bills.  If doctors are going to get paid for their work, they must follow within these guidelines.  It should be noted that none of these guidelines have anything to do with the quality, outcome or afforability of care.  In the end, they limit the amount of care, time spent with the doctor, and access the patient has to care.   Patients commonly feel they have not been able to get the doctor's attention to address all their concerns. 

In this new system there will be responsibility on the part of the patient to get right to the point about their concerns.  For this reason we have created a quick check of the body's core mechanical functions.  Almost all body movement is secondary to these core funtions and by starting here and removing these restrictions most conditions will go away with proper exercise and diet. 

We must put the integrity back into healthcare.  It is against the law for us to guarantee the patient benefits from care.  The State of Washington says that you do not have to pay for something you do not get.  Most industries have a fee for product or service relationship.   If the product or service is not reasonably adequate, the consumer should not be made to pay.  For some reason this is never applied to healthcare.
