Cafe Jennifer Cruisin' for the Relay for Life
Sunday, June 7, '09
Battle Ground, WA

In a joint venture to raise funds for the Relay For Life and canned food for the North County Foodbank, owner Jennifer, of Cafe Jennifer located in Battle Ground, poured her heart and soul into the first annual Cruisin' for the Relay for Life on Sunday, June 7, in Battle Ground.  With threats of rain and wind, Morning Star Balloon Co. was a bit timid standing up a hot air balloon.  You see, with rain comes wetness and this can be harmful for the fabric of the balloon since it will mold and mildew if not reinflated and dryed out within three days.  And, as it is still June in the Northwest, weather isLTA April at the helm unpredictable and sunshine is not always available for flying.  Event7.jpg (332364 bytes)However, with donated music by the Ford Fairlane's playing from the stage donated by S&I Rental, 17 classic cars displayed in the People's Credit Union parking lot, spectators were able to enjoy an overcast and cool Sunday.

At 4 PM the MobileChiroClinic.com balloon raised and stayed afloat for an hour with the assistance of the Morning Star Balloon Co. crew which consisted of Noel and student pilot LTA April, MJ, Captain Crystal and Dr. Don, Sultan and Deb, Charlie and Kuma (pictured) and a handful of volunteers from the crowd.

Special thanks to all those who donated and made the Cruisin' for the Relay for Life a success with the raising of $300 for the Relay and 55 gallons of food for the North County Foodbank.  Kilt I help you?

Event6.jpg (333721 bytes)Special thanks to our Sponsors:  S&I rental who sponsored the equipment to tie down the balloon, and stage for the music, MobileChiroClinic.com for bringout out the balloon, Ford Fairlanes for their wonderful trip down memory lane through music, and Donations for the prizes by local Battle Ground business owners:  VIP Auto Detail, Les Schwab, Nappa Auto, Dick's Tire Factory, Matson Excavating, Dan Tapani Construction.

We hope to see you a the next Cafe Jennifer Cruisin' for the Relay for Life on Saturday, August 1 from 5 PM to 9 PM.

Beaches Cruisin', Portland Intn'l Raceway, June 17, 2009Beaches Cruisin' June 17, 2009

The weather in the Northwest can be quite unpredictable at times...well, most of June would be that sorta timeframe.  We arrived at Portland International Raceway with the intent to moor  the hot air balloon (tie it down so that it does not leave the ground) at the weekly Beaches Cruisin' event.   This cruisin' is quite spectacular with 1100 vintage cars, motorcycles, military vehicles, and miscellaneous other two and four wheel drive items.  With pockets of rain surrounding us, we crossed our fingers as we watched the helium balloon on a string wheel swing left and right due to strong winds.  As the hour approached for the standup, we were pleasantly surprised by calmer winds.  So, at 7 PM we had Diamond Sun standing tall behind the band, swaying slightly to the music, and in line for the photographic display of colorful cars.  Each owner was given the chance to drive their car to stand next to the balloon for a photo opportunity.  A handful of participants wheeled in front of the balloon and made for a great show for the volunteer crew and the Morning Star Balloon Team and MobileChiroClinic.com.  We would like to thank all those volunteers who came out from the crowd to lend a hand and, of course, our crew of LTA-April, Noel, Chris, and Kuma and Charlie for looking so cute from the van.

Every Wednesday night (weather permitting) Beaches hosts a cruisin' at Portland International Raceway through the summer and it is open to the public to both spectate and also bring their classic for show and prizes.
